After doing a lot of research on umbrella strollers, I decided to purchase the Uppababy G-Lite. It has received many strong reviews and we have been very happy with our Vista, which is well-designed and well crafted. I received the G-Lite yesterday and took it out for a spin around the neighborhood. It handles well, is lightweight, and the mesh seat seems ideal for the humidity. I brought it home feeling very pleased with my purchase. This morning, however, I took it out on a walk and-- with my bus approaching-- found that the locking mechanism (i.e., what keeps the stroller closed when not in use) doesn't work. I was forced to awkwardly hug the stroller closed on a crowded bus (made all the more awkward as I was also holding a 1-year old and a diaper bag!). I thought it was user error since I wasn't very familiar with the stroller. When I inspected the stroller more carefully, though, I realized that there is an issue with the latch. I have reached out to Uppbaby's customer service, so I will update this post once I hear how they handle the issue. I'm not terribly hopeful, though, since I tried phoning and the call just rang... Bummer.

Just got myself a Yeti and after walking from my apartment to my car the ice melted within minutes. Very disappointed as I can't understand how people are saying the ice lasts 24hours in some reviews. The ice in my cup didn't even last five minutes!

I had high hopes for the 4moms Mamaroo. I purchased this product at my local baby store using a 20% off coupon out of desperation from lack of sleep. It has worked at times to help my newborn sleep. I especially like the incline function where the baby can be laying relatively flat or upright, and you can change the angle easily even with the baby strapped in. The multi plush is very colorful and is a nice looking product. The base is stable and firm on the ground whereas the swing is operated by a motor. The plug in feature is a big plus. After the first month or so, I've found that this product does not seem to help my infant sleep. I am especially disappointed in the sound quality. For example, the white noise just sounds sort of tinny and does not compare to the sound quality of a separate white noise machine. I have not used the separate auxillary plug that allows you to plug in an audio device such as an MP3 player or smart phone since the sound quality of the built in sounds is disappointing. Unfortunately, The Mamaroo just sits at home collecting dust. In retrospect, I maybe should have opted for a less expensive, more compact swing. I really wanted to like the Mamaroo, but it may work for some babies and not all.
