NF2 is... - There is no cure for Neurofibromatosis Type 2, but is here to be a source to help raise awareness of health issues and options for health management.

  • Cranial Nerves - There is 12 pair of nerves in the Central Nerve System, a left and a right nerve for each. Some control muscles and others control senses.
  • Brain Issues - While Schwannoma tumors damage to Cranial Nerves, both Schwannoma and Meningioma tumors cause pressure on brain matter. This pressure can affect ability for the brain to function properly in that region.
  • Eye and Vision Issues - An Ophthalmologist should be seen every other year by everyone. But anyone with Neurofibromatosis (NF); NF1, NF2, and Schwannomatosis, should see also see a Neuro-Ophthalmologist who is familiar with NF yearly for optic neurological issues that can develop. All of these issues are listed here.
  • Cranial Nerve 8 - The Cranial Nerve 8, the Vestibulocochlear Nerves starts at the center of the brain and splits to become the balance nerve and the hearing nerve, Vestibular Schwannoma, aka Acoustic Neuroma grown on and between these two nerves. A battle everyone born with NF2 will face, some earlier than others, is Bilateral Vestibular Schwannoma. NF2 typically also results in other tumors in the - brain, spinal cord and potentially other parts of the body, but Bilateral VS is the only issue consistent to everyone with NF2.
  • CN7 Facial Nerve Damage - Tumors along Cranial Nerve 8, the Vestibulocochlear Nerve often damage the Facial Nerve, even if other things can cause damage to the Facial nerve as well. Understand the reasons and options.
  • Spinal Cord and Vertebrae - Tumors that damage to nerves in the Spine and PNS (Peripheral Nervous System), can mean a problem with the Somatic and Autonomic Systems.
  • Peripheral Nerve System - Damage - Pain and other issues through the body, lower than the head can be the result of tumors in unexpected locations.
  • About NF2 IS - NF2 Information and Services is dedicated to helping people with NF2 who are looking to learn and find the information and services needed to live better, feel better and do better as you deal with your NF2.
  • Recent News - While NF2 Information and Services - Recent News section shares new news articles a few times a week, there are older news topics that including basic explanations on different NF2 issues, some differences between NF1 and NF2 as well as other topics also worth looking at.
  • NF2 (MERLIN) - Neurofibromatosis Type II (NF2) is a rare Autosomal Dominant, Neurological, and Neurodegenerative disease which results in slow growing typically Benign (noncancerous) tumors, primarily located in the Central Nerve System (CNS). Possible issues include...
  • NF2 Tumors - Neurofibromatosis Type 2 (NF2) results in the growth of different tumor types that grow as Benign (Noncancerous), but there is a chance they can become Malignant (Cancerous). NF2 tumors can include Schwannoma, Meningioma and Glioma (Astrocytoma or Ependymoma). There is often confusion as Schwannoma look like Neurofibroma in an MRI.
  • NF2 Tumor Damage - Scientists have determined that NF2 nerve damage that results in damage to the brain, senses, muscles or organs is not just a result of tumor burden but tumor growth rate and damage to the nerve itself from Axon connectivity.
  • Genetics - Neurofibromatosis Type 2 is a genetic, Autosomal Dominant disorder. Autosomal dominant means that of the two genes, alleles, inherited from a parent only one need be mutated for expression of the traits of NF2.
  • Diagnosis of NF2 - The earlier diagnosis of Neurofibromatosis Type 2 (NF2) is made, the easier it can be to manage NF2 specific health issues.
  • Family Planning - Family planning and birth control is not just prevention of pregnancy, but considering options to become a pregnant. There are dangers to mothers with NF2, not just the potential child. Sometimes the issues to the child can even be more than just development of stronger case of NF2 than their parent. There are options for all of these situations.
  • Treatment Management - Management of developing tumors includes a list of options, for both surgery and health recovery. Learn more here.
  • NF2 Treatment Centers - If you have NF2 it is important to get treatment from NF Treatment Centers. These hospitals include trained NF doctors are important to ensure the best possible treatment and care for your NF2 issues.
  • Surgery - Surgery is the ideal treatment for tumors for people with NF2. While NF2 tumors are slow growing, it can allow the brain and body to have time to try to adapt and adjust which can allow a tumor to grow to a considerable size before treatment might be necessary. Continuously growth of any tumor or tumors can result a serious health issue with the need for surgical intervention dependent on tumor size, location and how bad the side effects are or can become if a tumor increases any further. Individuals with NF2 can develop two but up to hundreds of tumors, but not ever tumor that grows will require treatment.
  • Clinical Trials - Each medication for treatment of NF2 tumors is at a different stage in the trials and different medications are in trials in different countries.
  • Radiation Treatments - For those ineligible for surgery or with incomplete surgical removal of a tumor, either conventional radiation or fractionated Stereotactic Radiosurgery (Radiotherapy) can slow or stop the growth of Meningiomas in the brain.
  • Hearing Implants - Damage to the Vestibulocochlear Nerve is typically amongst the first issue before an individual is finally diagnosed with NF2, even if other tumors may have started to grow first without detection. NF2 hearing loss is a result of damage the Cochlear Nerve. When sound amplification from traditional hearing aids no longer works, a Cochlear Implant might help till the nerve is completely broken at that point only an ABI (Auditory Brainstem Response) would offer any sound.
  • Hearing and Vision Options - While different levels of hearing and vision issues can occur for different reasons for people with NF2, many things can be done to live with these things. There are different methods of communication for the deaf or blind or both, even if adjustment to loss of either may take some amount of time.
  • Science Timeline - Neurofibromatosis (NF), initially called Von Recklinghausen disease, is not one but three separate genetic conditions that all result in the growth of tumors and neurological issues. The three diseases are called; NF1, NF2 and Schwannomatosis.
  • NF2 Transcripts and Videos - Watch and read medical developments from NF2 doctors. Learn what treatments people with NF2 have opportunities to gain access to for better quality of life.

  • Chris - This works great!

I really love this little guy I got it so I could use my cash box, and my lap top together for my business.

  • warren - Garbage.

What a load of lies these other reviewers posted--"lots of sports," bull crap--unless you like soccer and womens' tiddly winks; can't even get ESPN feed piece of garbage keeps buffering--yeah there's a huge list of channels but it wont let you access them, not worth 5$ let alone 90$

  • Martie - Cleared up film on windshield immediately.

Bought a used car, and it had this terrible film on the inside of the windshield. Barely saw anything through it when the sun glared.

  • Cleanup Woman - Business

Great product!! This is great for home office. Easy to use. I would purchase again. It is very easy to set up.

  • J. White - Excellent Upgrade

I installed the software without any problems on a Windows 7, 64 bit machine. The software worked well with few issues observed during testing. One of the new features included in AutoCAD 2013 is cloud storage capability. The software is able to sync files onto a cloud operated by Autodesk and thus make files available to others in or outside the organization. Included in the products price is 3 Gb of online storage. This feature seemed to work well except for an occasional sync error. I am confident based on prior use of Autodesk products that the company will work hard to address significant issues with release of one or two service packs.
